We need to process your info so that we can execute and manage the Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards and all the associated and necessary promotion, events, prizes, competitions, publicity, content creation, filming and any and all other marketing and communication activity related to the Awards. Therefore, without your consent we shall retain your data indefinitely, and you shall not be able to request data from our site due to authentication issues unless you first provide consent.

 

  1. Data shall be retained until you submit a Data Deletion Request. When you submit a Data Deletion Request the data shall be deleted after September 1, 2023. To ensure that everybody has a fair and equal opportunity to cast their votes, we shall only delete data after the Competition ends.

 

  1. None of the parties concerned shall store your information for the purposes of marketing and as such you will not receive marketing material from us.

 

  1. Any of the parties above shall only be allowed to market through the channels selected.

The services offered by the above manage Consent or any related services as listed on our website is brought to you for your convenience. If you withdraw consent from our services, you will need to manually provide your consent to https://comicschoice.com/ if they facilitate it.

 

WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY

The responsible parties mentioned in section (B) above are committed to protecting your privacy and recognize that they needs to comply with statutory requirements in collecting, processing, and distributing personal information. The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa provides that everyone has the right to privacy and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) includes the right to protection against unlawful collection, retention, dissemination and use of personal information. In terms of section 18 of POPIA, if personal information is collected, the above parties, as responsible parties, must take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that the data subject is made aware of the information being collected.

 

IN ACCORDANCE WITH POPIA, THE RESPONSIBLE PARTIES HEREWITH PROCESS THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION

 

  1. TYPE OF INFORMATION: Full names, public names, cell phone numbers, third party details (managers/clients), agency name, social media links, social media handles, social media following, content links and ID Numbers for POPIA Purposes.

 

  1. NATURE OF INFORMATION: Personal Information to process any of the services mentioned in section A2.

 

  1. PURPOSE: Required for the purposes of performing a task as requested by the data subject.

 

  1. SOURCE: Both supplied by DATA SUBJECT and third parties.

 

  1. VOLUNTARILY/MANDATORY: The data is mandatory since we are unable to fulfil our services without it. User data is required in order for the Awards to view submissions and judge the work of the registered entrants.

 

  1. LEGAL REQUIREMENT: Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 | POPIA – https://popia.co.za/.

 

  1. CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENT: Without this information we are not able to process your order.

 

  1. CONSEQUENCES OF FAILURE TO PROVIDE: According to POPIA, no one is allowed to hold the data of any DATA SUBJECT without their consent, and that when held it should be held only for as long as it is required. We shall retain your data indefinitely, and you shall not be able to request data from our site due to authentication issues unless you first provide consent.

 

  1. CROSS BORDER TRANSFER: Users may have managers who reside outside the borders of South Africa. The countries may or may not comply with POPIA.

 

  1. RECIPIENTS OF PERSONAL INFORMATION: Any of the parties mentioned in Section B, their employees or contractors may have access to the information you provide.
